Australasian wine drinkers are rejoicing after the International Wine Challenge winner was declared to be an affordable $9.80.
The awards took place in London over the weekend, where a South Australian bottle of Clare Valley cleanskin Riesling won the acclaimed gold medal.
The white wine is described on the label as "crisp and elegant... bursting with flavours of lemon and lime."
Australian alcohol store Dan Murphy's, which stocks the bottle of wine, say it's a win for them. Head of Wine, George Radman, told news.com.au him and his team are pleased that one of the wines they chose to stock won.
"The Dan Murphy's team are devoted to selecting the most standout parcels from the thousands of wine samples they taste each year.
"This 2017 Clare Valley cleanskin is as zestful as it is affordable - and is a true representation of the quality that consumers can expect from our cleanskin range."
The London International Wine Challenge is said to be one of the biggest in the world and winning the gold medal means the wine is considered to be near perfect.
Judges tasted the wine blind, meaning they had no idea the winner would be such an affordable bottle.
Here's hoping it hits New Zealand stores soon.
