You would think it would be hard for anyone to hate Hugh Jackman. Whether he is wielding his adamantium claws as Wolverine or singing show tunes and bringing magic to our lives in The Greatest Showman - he is one lovable guy!
But, as with anything, there are some who don't appreciate him or his work so much.
The Greatest Showman topped the charts to become the best-selling album of 2018 and has shifted a big top-toppling 1.6 million copies. The album has been in the Top 5 of the UK Official Top 40 since its debut in 2017, making it the longest to ever sit at #1 in UK chart history.
Despite some people sick of hearing “The Greatest Show” for the millionth time, Jackman is brushing his haters off in classic Jackman style.
Speaking to NME, the Aussie native had a response for his haters. Jackman told the site, “It’s not my world. I’m not a recording artist, I’ve done a few cast albums, so my kids and even my wife are getting so sick of it – they’re like, ‘It’s the 20th week at Number One!’ I’m still excited about it.”
“If I invented chocolate ice cream and people came up to me and said ‘I hate chocolate’, then alright – that’s OK,” he continued.
“There’s loads of people who love it. In the end, I’m a storyteller. I’m an actor who tells stories. Some people didn’t like The Greatest Showman and that’s fine with me.”
Jackman went on to explain the importance of The Greatest Showman. “It meant a lot to a lot of people,” said Jackman. “If you spend a lot of time on something and nobody likes it, then that’s a little difficult because you think ‘Wow, I’ve really gone off track here. I really thought this would connect and it didn’t.'”
