Earlier on this year TVNZ announced that after more than a decade in the slot, 1News presenter Wendy Petrie would be finishing up with her 6pm slot.
In a recent post on her Instagram, Wendy thanked some of her recent co-hosts ahead of her final 6pm news bulletin this evening.
"With 1 night left as co-host on 6pm, a tribute to my co-hosts." she wrote.
"For 14 years Simon has had my back. Every single night. PWilly *Peter Williams, not sure how we got away with calling him that but we had great chats about life & children. John Campbell my mentor & friend who always knew when I needed his advice. Greg Boyed, in studio he made me laugh till I cried. We still miss him dearly in our newsroom. I’ve been very lucky to have these guys in my life."
Earlier on this month Wendy thanked viewers for their support...
"I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness. My now 16 & 14 year old daughters (& son!) tell me how proud & inspired they are, so that’s all the motivation I need to keep going for my next exciting step."
We're wishing Wendy all the best for whatever comes next!
