Ryan Gosling is not only gracing our screens as Ken in the upcoming ‘Barbie’ movie, but he's also showing off his sweet vocals in an official music video.
Move over, Justin Timberlake, there's a new singing sensation in town!
The video for the song ‘I'm Just Ken’ gives us a glimpse into Ken's love-struck pain as he wails about always taking a backseat to everybody's fave Barbie, played by the ever-gorgeous Margot Robbie.
And let me tell you, it's a rollercoaster of emotions. We've got Ryan shirtless, wearing a fake mink and a headband while crying and pouring his heart out. Who knew Ken was really deep in his feelings like that?
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that even Guns N' Roses' Slash played guitar on Gosling's track? How cool is that? Mark Ronson, the soundtrack producer, spilled the beans to Variety, and he couldn't contain his excitement. I mean, who could blame him?
He said: “It was so crazy [Ryan’s] a huge star of this movie and only had three hours on a Tuesday afternoon to cut the vocals. He just went in and as he started to get warmed up I was like, ‘This guy is going to murder this song!’ Of course, he would.”
“I’m so psyched. We worked on it for about a year after he did the vocals. After I sent him the final version, with Slash on it, he was psyched and satisfied, which is what you want to do when you’re making a sound for someone,” Ronson added.
This ballad is part of the star-studded 'Barbie’ soundtrack, featuring massive artists including Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Nicki Minaj.
And if that wasn't enough to make you giddy, the countdown is officially on with ‘Barbie’ hitting theatres on July 20!
That's right, next week, we'll get to see Ryan, Margot and loads of other mega celebs bring our beloved dolls to life in a whole new way.
In the meantime, satisfy your cravings by learning the lyrics to ‘I'm Just Ken’, I’ve almost got it down packed already!
