Ed Sheeran is auctioning his worn underwear to help sick children in his native East Anglia.
The pop superstar’s boxers are likely to be a sought-after item in East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) eBay sale, which comprises 450 items in total.
These include a diverse array of articles such as boxer shorts, jumpers, trousers, hats, jackets, belts, bags, T-shirts, and Ipswich Town merchandise. The donations include 73 pairs of socks and 149 boxer shorts - many of which have been worn by the star.
Ed's contributions are anticipated to generate substantial funds for EACH, a charity supporting families and children in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Essex. The singer-songwriter has been an Ambassador for EACH since 2014, and the items were delivered to EACH’s shop in Framlingham by a member of his team.
The garments will be sold, “as received, unwashed and unironed, with each sale accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity,” according to the charity. The initial batch of 20 items went live at midday on Tuesday, with an additional 40 scheduled to be available for bidding at 8 pm.
EACH's Director of Retail, Ian Nicolson, remarked said the charity had already received intense interest in Ed’s boxers and other items.
“It’s been an incredible couple of days, and the feeling is we need to strike while the iron’s hot,” he said. “We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the public and media interest and found ourselves in the spotlight across the country."
Further auctions are planned in the upcoming weeks, offering unique Christmas presents, and each item's starting price will be £9.99. You can bid on the items on the charity's eBay site: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/eastangliaschildrenshospices.
