Disney has just said 'you're welcome' by dropping the first teaser trailer for 'Moana 2'.
In the clip, a beautifully lit sunrise falls over an island as Moana reaches for her conch shell. Blowing a deep call out, Maui is heard shouting a mighty "CHEEHOO" back before the screen fades to black.
According to the film's description, the sequel will take us on an adventure to the far seas of Oceania with Moana and Maui. They'll be joined by a whole new crew as they navigate dangerous and long-lost waters.
Everyone is super stoked to see these projects come to life, with Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger saying: “Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise, and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui."
"I swear I didn't know there would be a sequel to Moana. What wonderful news, my daughter loves it," wrote one mum.
Also taken by surprise another fan wrote: "Totally unexpected, they kept it a secret really well."
"OH PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEE," said another fan.
Of course, there's also the live-action adaption of the film also in the works with Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui in real life. Auli'i Cravalho, who voices Moana in the animated original and the upcoming sequel, will produce the project but she is not reprising the role.
'Moana 2' is set to hit NZ cinemas on November 27, 2024.
