Amazon just dropped the news that a fresh Legally Blonde spinoff series is on its way. That's right, we'll be seeing a younger version of Elle as the show will be taking us back to her teenage years.
And if anyone deserves an origin story, it's definitely Elle Woods!
Reece Witherspoon announced the comeback on her own Instagram this morning, complete with a top-secret pink, scented script and her trusty pup Bruiser.
Variety reports that the show “follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”
We also saw Reece reprise her character to reveal the big news at Amazon’s 2024 upfront presentation.
Reese Witherspoon and Bruiser took to the stage to make a big Elle-stravaganza out of the announcement!
“I’m very excited to tell you what we’ve been cooking up! I had this crazy idea that the world might want to know the origin story of Elle Woods, so here I am to officially tell you the most amazing news ever,” Recce, ahem, Elle said.
“Before she became the most famous Gemini vegetarian to graduate from Harvard Law School, she was just a regular 90s high school girl,” she continued.
“I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine (Reece's production company) – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!”
While no release date has been announced, we’re going Delta Nu-ts for the moment we can lay our eyes on this new series.
