New Zealand, get ready for a fresh and heartwarming twist on renovation reality TV!

Three is all set to launch a brand-new show "House Rules" that promises to be a riveting blend of home transformation and feel-good entertainment. Over seven weeks, we’ll see five teams come together for the renovation challenge of a lifetime.

Hosted by Duncan Heyde (who you might know of from our brother station The Rock), the show will see a welcomed departure from profit-driven auctions and prioritise the homeowners' vision.

Each week, one brave couple entrusts their home to the rest of the teams, armed with nothing more than a small list of house rules… How could it go wrong?

Here's a peek at the five teams:

Jemma and Alvaro are young newlyweds who took a leap of faith with the help of Alvaro's Mum. While she didn't have much, she gave the couple everything she had to help them get on the property ladder.
Jemma is a dedicated teacher, while Alvaro is a Digital Project Manager. While they knew they were buying a fixer-upper, they might have bitten off more than they can chew, but are still determined to make it work!

Theresa and Jarrad are cousins with a very strong friendship.
With Theresa's support, Jarrad, a single father raising two teenage boys, sees this renovation as a fresh start for their family home following a tough separation.
Let's hope the reno of Jarrad’s New Lynn house goes well to avoid any family squabbles.

Nikki & Sherwen have a decade of marriage and two young kids under their belt.
Nikki has been a paediatric nurse for 13 years, and Sherwen a financial advisor for over 10 years.
While they have said their reno experience is… limited, they believe their creativity and hands-on nature will give them an edge.

Violet and Char are the mother-daughter duo who could just surprise everyone.
At 73, Violet is described as the ‘mover and shaker’ of the two (it was even her who signed Char up for the show).
Char lives with her husband and teenage children in Murrays Bay. Their creativity could be their secret weapon having previously taken out the prize in the Creative Excellence category at the Wearable Art Awards!

The judging panel for the show brings three talented individuals together to steer the teams in the right direction.

Jade Hurst, the founder of Good Space, a wellness interiors studio emphasizing human and environmental health in design, plays a pivotal role in ensuring teams grasp the rules from the homeowners and avoid a design disaster.
Katrina Hobbs, known for her work as an interior designer and magazine editor, may also be familiar to viewers from her past lives on Shortland Street and Home and Away, and even a stint on Celebrity Treasure Island!
Lastly, the Auckland-based interior designer is not to be confused with American actors or NZ Idol runner-ups, as Google may have you believe. Michael Murray has collected numerous awards for his kitchen designs.

Each week, one couple hands over their house keys and instructions to their competitors. These teams then have a mere five and a half days to work their magic and transform the house. The results are judged by a panel of two design experts, along with the homeowners themselves.

As the competition heats up, the two lowest-scoring teams are eliminated, leaving only the best to compete in the final round. These remaining teams will tackle house exteriors and gardens, all in the quest for the grand prize. When the dust settles and the paint dries, the highest-scoring pair in the final week will walk away with a staggering $100,000 cash prize!

We can't wait for the heartwarming moments as these New Zealanders get to bring their reno dreams to life with the help of the other contestants… as long as they keep to the rules!
