One Kiwi with incredible ingenuity is selling his one-of-a-kind ride-on lawnmower.
Calling it “the world’s comfiest lawnmower”, Merv Adlam listed his D.I.Y ride-on made from a regular mower complete with a La-Z-y Boy chair.
With little info on the Trade Me listing, our own Jay-Jay and Flynny gave Merv a ring to learn more about the inspiration behind the unique bit of equipment.
“It’s just your normal Honda lawn mower - what happened there was I had a La-Z-y Boy sitting on the floor beside it and I thought ‘hmm, that might fit on there’ and I made it fit," he explained.
Merv said it’s the most comfortable thing he’s ever sat on, so much so that he reckons the user could actually have a snooze while mowing.
Though that might not be the best idea if you want to keep all your fingers and toes, or avoid running through a hedge.
“It actually does a nice job," Merv added, "but it’s a bit hard to control because you haven’t got a reverse. If you hit a corner you’ve got to stop it and give yourself a pushback.”
I guess that’s the price you pay for a comfortable ride.

This isn’t the first time Merv has tapped into his creative side, telling Taranaki Daily News he’d rather build than buy the things he wants.
“I can make everything you can think of,” he said, crediting his inventive nature to his childhood spent watching his dad refurbish old engines and tractors.
