A hot cross bun ice cream truck is coming to NZ with loads of delicious and daring toppings

What whacky combo will you be trying?

Easter is just around the corner, and if you're anything like me, you're already salivating over the thought of digging into a pack of hot cross buns. But this year, those beloved buns are getting a frosty makeover.

From the 20th to the 31st of March, a Woolworths ice cream truck will be making its way across Tāmaki Makaurau and Tauranga, scooping and serving up hot cross buns filled with ice cream!

You can choose between their whole hot cross bun selection including Hershey’s chocolate, Caramilk, Brioche, Biscoff and a few gluten-free options too.

They've got a lengthy lineup of toppings including your classic sweet-tooth favourites like bananas, strawberries, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce.

But for those who consider themselves daredevils, there's also bacon bits, marmite, kimchi and blue cheese - which all just seems too much for my tastebuds!

Here’s where you can grab a Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream for Easter

  • Wednesday 20th March: 11am – 4pm Western Park, Ponsonby Road, Auckland
  • Friday 22nd March: 10am – 1pm Te Komititanga Square at Commercial Bay, Auckland
  • Friday 22nd March: 5pm – 8.30pm Food Truck Collective, Thomas Bloodworth Park, Remuera
  • Saturday 23rd March: 10am – 2pm Papakura Park Fest, Central Park, Papakura
  • Sunday 24th March: 10am – 3pm Tamaki Drive (near the fountain), Mission Bay
  • Friday 29th March: 11am – 4pm Tauranga Good Friday Markets, Tauranga Racecourse
  • Saturday 30th March: 10am – 3pm Maunganui Beach, Mt Maunganui
  • Sunday 31st March: 12pm – 5pm Tauranga CBD near The Strand

You’ll want to hop on over early because Woolworths says they’ve got limited scoops and buns to serve up at each location.

Grabbing a sandwich for a small gold coin donation seems like a fair deal with all donations heading towards helping KidsCan.

It’s awesome to see Woolworths helping out Kiwi kids and whānau in need.
