Sometimes getting the kids to bed early (or even on time), can be an absolute mission. But a new study has shown huge health benefits for both kids and parents when they go to bed early.
The “Growing Up in Australia” study has been following families for the last 14 years and found that those kids who got to sleep early (this study considered any time before 8.30pm as early) had a better “health-related quality of life”.
The mental health of mum and dad was also improved by the kids getting and early night sleep.
“When we think about mum, it makes a lot of sense to me that if kids are early to bed, mum is going to wind down, get things done, and feel like things are under control.”
“So mums and dads, getting kids to bed early is not just great for them. It’s good for you, too.”
The study also found one of the biggest factors hurting our sleep was the 'blue light' found in most electronic devices. The study suggested not using devices 1 and a 1/2 hours before bed time.
