Researchers from the Universities of Oxford and Coventry have recently concluded a study between the frequency of couple's intimacy and overall brain function.
The study found that couple's that were intimate at least once a week, on average rated at least 2% higher in a series of written and spoken tests than those who were less often.
The exact cause is not yet known, but the scientists believe that it potentially comes down to chemicals such as dopamine which are released during more intimate moments which helps improve brain function.
“Every time we do another piece of research we are getting a little bit closer to understanding why this association exists at all, what the underlying mechanisms are, and whether there is a ‘cause and effect’." said one of the researchers.
