Paid puppy leave exists so you don't miss a moment with your new pooch

It's normal to take leave for important life events, such as weddings and events, or longer leave for things like maternity leave.

Now, thanks to brewing company BrewDog, 'pawternity leave' is a thing and it's gonna give your new buddy the best start to life as a family pet.

For years we've stood at the front door looking back at puppy dog eyes telling us not to go, because let's face it, they love us just as much as we love them.

Unfortunately, BrewDog is in the UK, meaning there's no 'pawternity leave' here in little ol' NZ, but it's companies like this who spark discussions and change so finger crossed it will happen soon!

James Watt is the brewery's co-founder explains on their website that he's just trying to make life a little easier for his employees, especially the ones with new pups.

"It’s not easy trying to juggle work and settle a new dog into your life, and many members of our crew have four-legged friends at home.

"So we wanted to take the stress out of the situation and let our teams take the time they need to welcome their new puppy or dog into their family.

"We always want to raise the bar when it comes to offering our staff the best possible benefits; at BrewDog we care about two things above all else.

"People and beer.

"We also just really, really like dogs."
