Boy creates Christmas light display bright enough for mum to see "from heaven"

A teenager who lost his mum this year to cancer has turned their house into a Christmas light spectacular in memory of her.

The 14-year-old Sydney teen, Jackon Dowling, lost his 50-year-old mum in February after a long battle with kidney cancer.

His family often competes with their neighbours to put on the best Christmas display - but this year, he and his neighbours put their efforts together to make this year the best and biggest display yet.

“My goal for this year was to make it so that she could see it from heaven,” he told The Today Show.

His grandmother says Jackson’s mother would have been “so proud” of her son.

Jackson plans to be out the front of his house with a donation bucket dressed up as Santa, collecting funds the local children's cancer charity.
