In a leaked Facebook message, a wedding guest has shared how a bride cancelled her wedding but insisted on holding on to the wedding gifts already received.
The bride and groom made the call to postpone their wedding due to 'financial unstability' but they had already received $30,000 in total from wedding guests who donated to their cash 'wishing well'. The couple said they still planned to go on their honeymoon despite their wedding being pushed back.
"Don’t worry, the money you’ve donated will not be spent in vain, but rather used towards a honeymoon in the coming months," she wrote in the message.
"After we regain financial stability and hold calm in our hearts after a honeymoon we will announce a new wedding date date and re open our money fund for any further gifts. Weddings are expensive!"
The reaction from the wedding guests and those online was not positive...
"My donation was given the under assumption that you would be married on Dec 1st and that my entire family would attend," one guest said. "We donated early and trusted you to respect that. You’ve broken your plans and now we want our cash back. NOW."
"What the hell is happening," said another guest, "everything was fine even yesterday and now you’re taking a huge sum of money and ditching. It doesn’t seem right."
But it doesn't end there, the bride came back at the guests criticising her...
"All, please calm down," the bride replied, "You’re making me feel very attacked..."
"You chose to DONATE to ME. If I want to use the money, who cares how? I told you the wedding is rescheduled not cancelled."
Oh to be a fly on the wall when this wedding actually happens!
