A block of butter for only $4?
With the growing cost of living today, it almost seems unheard of - but it turns out you can find half a kilo of butter for $4 at your big red shed.
A recent story from Stuff.co.nz has found that bargain retail store The Warehouse has some cheaper grocery items, priced lower than your typical supermarket.
A comparison between The Warehouse and franchised supermarkets saw The Warehouse stocking many of their items cheaper than the regular supermarkets, including:
- A 500g block of Tararua butter priced at $4 ($2.79 cheaper)
- A 1.2kg box of Weetbix for $5 ($2.80 cheaper)
- A 1.5kg packet of Harraways Oats for $3.50 ($4.20 cheaper)
- Greggs special blend instant coffee priced at only $1 ($1.49 cheaper)
The Warehouse's chief executive Nick Grayston told Stuff.co.nz that it had some of the cheapest prices in the country, and was “seriously considering” entering the grocery market.
“We work hard on building direct relationships with our partners and suppliers to make sure we can offer the best range of affordable products for our customers.”
