Sims 4 is now free for everyone, and ooh be gah i'm feeling nostalgic

We all remember playing Sims!

Sims fans might want to sit down for this one…The massively popular online game is now available for everybody to play for FREE!

EA confirmed the super-exciting news to users back in September but now the day has officially come - It also means we may need to check on the eager gamers of the house to make sure they haven't gone into hibernation mode (if you have teenagers we're looking at you).

Om za gleb! Sorry, that was just me practising my Simlish!

In their  announcement, EA said: “We’ve welcomed millions of players to The Sims and watched in awe as they unleashed their imaginations, discovered and connected with ideas, experiences and versions of themselves, both in-game and real life.”

“Our team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful The Sims 4 experiences for our players and we will continue to develop and release packs, kits and Sims Delivery Express drops into the foreseeable future.”

The Sims games have been taking over our lives since 2014 so, if you or anyone you know was a little too eager to get their hands on a copy of the game, spent the money and are now feeling a little bit silly about the purchase - don’t worry your money hasn't gone to waste.

EA revealed that they are offering a free furniture expansion pack for all those eligible customers.

Part of the reason behind the decision to make the game free to all users is that a lot of their money making comes from selling their downloadable content (DLCs) or Expansion Packs as we know them.

The hope for EA is that with the game being more accessible, people will be more willing to spend their cash on adding extensions to their game.

In other news, Sims also announced back in May that they had updated the game to that allow players to add custom pronouns to their Sims characters in Create A Sim.

The addition of the new pronoun options was something developers had been thinking of for some time and when a featured player requested it during community feedback last year, the plan went ahead.

The development team worked with the 'It Gets Better Project' and GLADD to learn more about how pronouns are used, and the game now allows you to choose from They/Them, She/Her, He/Him or customise your option.

The first version of the feature focuses on customizable pronouns in English only - EA says they intend to update and expand the feature over time.
