A recent study has found that women do much more work to make Christmas day great than men do... Probably not to the surprise of anyone!

On average, women spend 5 more hours than men getting prepared for the big day. On top of that they tend to buy twice as many gifts and spend twice as much!

"Christmas is a time for giving, and this research really shows just how generous *we* are when it comes to making the festive season truly special for our friends in family," a spokesperson for the research said.

"It's clear that mums tend to be the person who really go that extra mile, whether it be slaving over a festive feast, stocking up on presents for the whole family and delivering them far and wide or decorating the house for a truly magical Christmas experience."

There is an upside though - mums were also voted as the family member that everyone else said Christmas wouldn't be the same without.

"What better time to show our appreciation to those members of the family who go over and above than at Christmas?"

So if you're the one who has done most of the work preparing for Christmas - we hope you actually get some time to put your feet up!
