Ever felt that sinking feeling when you find an unexpected transaction on your credit card?
Well Georgina Munday experienced exactly that, to the tune of $4,900!
Over in the UK, Georgina was going through her bank account when she discovered a series of transactions totalling a staggering £2,500 (about $4,900 NZD).
Turns out that her 10-year-old daughter, Primrose, had gone on a pretty astonishing spending spree while playing Roblox.
Primrose had figured out how to change the password on her iPad, which ended up giving her the ability to make in-app purchases within the game.
If you’re not aware of the game, Roblox is an online game where users can create and play games created by other users. As a part of this users can opt to purchase virtual clothing, accessories and additional games to explore.
Georgina shared her story on the BBC Radio Four show 'You and Yours' to seek advice, and her bank actually took notice and promised to refund the whole amount.
It’s still quite a shock to the system to be down $4000+, So Georgina is now driven to raise awareness with other parents.
On the Roblox website, they do detail their comprehensive refund policy for unauthorized purchases and their processes in place for refund requests.

So, before handing over the virtual reins to your children, maybe make sure your card details are locked away from little fingers.
