It’s been a long time coming but Stranger Things season 4 is finally upon us!

Netflix posted to their Instagram today letting us know exactly when ‘volume one’ of season four will be hitting our screens…

For the first time in the series, season 4 will be released in two volumes. Episodes 1 to 7 will be released tonight, but we’ll have to wait till July for the final two episodes.

This season is also set to have a very long runtime, with episodes running between 1 hour 3 mins and 2 hours 30 mins!

The final teaser has shown us we have a lot to look forward to as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the rest of the group prepare to face a new supernatural threat.

It also looks like we’re going to be getting a little darker this season. Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, revealed that this season takes everything "up a notch" especially when it comes to horror.

He added: "I know that we’ve leaned more towards sci-fi over the course of the past three seasons, and this time we can kind of relish in the whole Nightmare on Elm Street field, which is a big inspiration for them this year. But I was just super excited when reading initially, and I hope the same is true for the rest of the gang."

The previous season debuted on Netflix over three years ago, but the new season begins up only six months after the Battle of Starcourt.

The Duffer Brothers also announced that this will be Stranger Things' last season - and that they already have a "rough sketch" for the show's end.
