Sir Peter Leitch, better known around Aotearoa as 'The Mad Butcher', has taken to Instagram in a public call for help after 14 of his prized Warriors jerseys were stolen in yet another ram-raid in Auckland overnight.
In his social media post, Leitch revealed that he is “shattered” after waking up to the news of his jerseys going missing.
He asked his followers: “If you hear of anyone trying to flog some warrior jerseys off please contact me these jerseys are irreplaceable.”
The ram-raid took place at Mt. Smart Stadium overnight on Tuesday, where the tops worn by former captain Steven Price, Awen Guttenbeil and team-signed kits were taken from the venue.
Auckland Stadiums director James Parkinson said in a statement to 1News that he was "gutted" Mt Smart Stadium was the target of some "opportunistic thieves".
"A range of items were stolen in the raid, including the 14 irreplaceable jerseys that form part of Sir Peter Leitch’s collection that he donated to the stadium, electronic devices, tools, and a vehicle, which was used to ram several access gates as they left the scene.”
"We are working with NZ Police and hope they will be able to apprehend the culprits and return the stolen items to Mt Smart."
In his Mad Butcher locations across the country, Leitch used to proudly display his sports memorabilia, which he had collected overtime in his position as the manager of the Kiwis’ rugby league team.
