Everything You Need To Know If You're Heading To Elton John in Christchurch

Heading to Elton John tonight? If so, here is a little peek at what to expect and what to prepare for...

Set times: 

Gates open at 5:30 pm
Venues Ōtautahi recommend you should aim to be in your seats by 7:00 pm.
Elton gets on stage at 7:30 pm (no opening or supporting acts) 
 

Parking 

Parking needs to be pre-purchased from Ticketmaster before the concert.
For those with a parking pass, the car park is accessible via Wrights Rd.

Mobility Parking

If you have a Mobility Parking Permit, enter via the car park off Wrights Rd and present your parking pass to the staff.
The best access to the stadium is via Gate A, accessed along the footpath of Jack Hinton Drive.
To get to the stadium, The best way is through Gate A off the Jack Hinton Drive footpath. 

Public Transport 

Bus Stops are located close to the stadium on Lincoln Road and Whiteleigh Ave.

Drop-off/pick-up and rideshare/Taxis

If you’re getting dropped off by a mate or catching an Uber/taxi, drop-off zones are located a short walk from the stadium.
Gate A Drop Off: Whiteleigh Ave
Gate B Drop Off: Lincoln Road
Gates D & E Drop Off: Christchurch Arena via Wrights Rd
If you arrive on an E-Scooter, remember to not obstruct any entrance doors or emergency exits.
 

Road Closures 

From 4:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Twigger Street: From Lincoln Road to Jack Hinton Drive
Jack Hinton Drive: From Whiteleigh Avenue to Twigger Street

From 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm

Whiteleigh Avenue: From Lincoln Road to Show Place

Lindores street has also been coned off with no parking. 
There will be a lot of traffic surrounding the stadium so ensure you leave plenty of time to get to the venue. 
 

Bags 

There are strict bag/item size restrictions in place.
Venues Ōtautahi have indicated “no backpacks of any size, including ‘handbags’ in this style. Strictly 30cmx30cmx10cm (about A4) or smaller”.
As always, if you’re in doubt just leave it at home.
 

Cashless

Bring your card! Orangetheory Stadium is a cashless venue.
 

Weather

Remember Orangetheory Stadium is an outdoor venue. Keep up with the weather forecast and maybe bring a poncho or rain jacket just in case! (but note that umbrellas are not permitted inside the venue)
Unless there are extreme weather conditions the show will go ahead ‘rain or shine’. 
 

First Aid

If you need medical assistance at any time, St John is located inside the venue by Gate D.
 

Smoking

Orangetheory Stadium is a smoke-free venue.

There will be a designated smoking area within the venue by Gate A.

Unsealed drink bottles of any size

Weapons of any sort including tasers, mace spray or potential projectiles
Selfie and/or GoPro sticks, monopods or tripods
Animals (with the exception of service dogs such as guide dogs or emergency service dogs)
Beanbags, blow-up chairs or lounges
Lasers, flashlights
Fireworks, flares, sparklers and/or explosives
Confetti or shredded paper
Large flags or banners
Unauthorised solicitation materials including handbills, flyers, stickers, beach balls, giveaways, samples, or other promotional items
Professional photography equipment (eg telephoto lenses; any lens over 20cm; any detachable lens; stands or other commercial equipment or anything deemed by Event personnel to be professional photography equipment)
Audio or recording devices (including GoPro, iPad and similar)
Any other item deemed by Event personnel (in their discretion) to be, or potentially be, dangerous or offensive.
