Did you know you can search for unclaimed money you're owed through IRD? I just found out

It's worth having a look!

Look, we could ALL do with a little extra cash right now, right? Well, turns out there’s a little secret that could be the key to unlocking some money you're owed.

You can search for your unclaimed money through the IRD website to see if there’s any cash under your name that could be heading your way.

It regularly gets updated, but surprisingly, loads of people don’t know about it, which is exactly why we’re letting ya know!

Honestly, I could really do with a little healthy top-up to my bank account before the weekend. I just had a look, and there’s someone who is owed a whopping $35k - must be nice!

According to IRD, you can search for unclaimed money for yourself, on behalf of someone else or an organisation, trust or estate.

To be clear, this is not money owed by IRD, but by other companies - They just use IRD as the middleman to get in contact with ya and to make sure you are who you say you are.

Obvs, if you have a MyIR account it’ll be a heck of a lot easier for you to find out if there’s any money owed to you.

“As we know who you are, you do not have to supply identification details. You just need to give us additional information about the connection you have with the money,” the website reads.

However, if you don’t have an account, you can still search via the website.

If money is owed to you, IRD says you’ll need to “submit a claim for the money if you believe it is yours, you’ll need to select the relevant search results and supply additional information about yourself and the connection you have with the money.”

So, if you haven’t already, I’d be going to have a geez to see if there’s any dosh under your name. You don’t wanna miss out on free money, right?
